Alcúdia's old town is genuinely medieval — intact walls, a Roman ruin (Pollentia) just outside them — while the modern resort strip along the bay has the long, family-friendly beaches most people come north for.
It's a good base if you want both: history and market life in the old town, easy flat beaches for kids a short drive away.
